Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

2016-06-17, 18:59 PM

Let me tell you what I think, its always 9 months for all of us having same exact problem. Which means it is internally adjusted to buy new battery. I bought new battery and today was exactly after 1 year and 2 months (lastet more second time).

I can't pay 60 euros every year because of that, adding that it is really tricky because specially this laptop you can't make it work on full performance when it is 0% which means forget about running games in this situation even when it is connected with charger.

So you are forced to change the battery or buy new laptop, I didn't find any other solution and if you find please send to me.

Re: Ideapad Z510 battery problem

replacing the battery solved the problem for me. First time took 9 months and today had the same problem after another 1 year and 2 months.

so this laptop is for one year  to work other than that buy another battery for a year function.

I had it replaced by one of my friends who this as his career and first time this problem took place was after 9 months and now after 1 year and 2 months it happened again. so better next time to buy a new laptop and not to change the battery.

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

2016-07-10, 10:16 AM

Hi All,

I have had this problem since more than a year of battery not charging. After logging in it used to show charging with 6% available indication and in another minute or so as the system came up it used to pop up a message saying that I need to buy a new battery and the charging stoped at 6% or 7% . This started happening probably after a year and few months of my purchase of ideapad z510.

I did this firware upgrading step by step from the link in the post today 10th July 2016 and 2 hours from that, now it says 68% available (plugged in charging) and no pup saying I need to buy a new one. I think it is resolved but not until another 2 days of before I can confirm positively that it did the job !

I used to fully charge the battery and then used to unplug use the laptop on battery and plug it for recharge when battery status hit 10%- 5% which I understand is not the right way to do. So far i coudn't get hold on to what practise is right in getting longevity for the laptop batteries any authentic advice in this regard is appreciated.

If i didn't return in 2 days then possibly it is fixed or that annoyance is keeping me at abeyance ! You can ask me at kotshome at-the-rate gmail.com

Regards,
George

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

Hi,

The firmware update doesn't work. I had this problem last year when I my onsite warrenty didn't expired, my battery indicator stoped showing battery(%) below 80%.

I called the lenovo support and report them the problem I had, they asked me to update the energy meter app, that didn't help, then they asked me to send my battery status to sosupport@lenovo.com .

After seeing the above image the engineers said I have no problem with battery and they refused to send any engineer to my home.

But my problem didn't solve, so I took my laptop to local service centre, they said resetting the laptop will solve my problem so, they took my laptop and afer one week they returned it to me saying your problem has been solved, but it didn't, it had the same problem (the worst service ever...). Then they took the laptop again and after 14-16 days they called me and said your battery has been changed and your problem has been solved.

Lenovo products are good till they encounter any problem because they had a very bad service, I had onsite warrenty but had to take it to the service center.

Changing the battery solves the problem.... And its obvious, if it would have been a software problem each and every laptop should have encounterd this problem.
