Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

2017-12-21, 8:28 AM

Hi, I guess it's my turn to add my testimony !

I bought my Z510 4 years ago and everything was fine. The second year I had the same issue as you so I applied successfully the firmware update. Nothing change, expected I replaced the DVD drive by a SSD but still no problem with the battery (2h30 of battery life Word / Internet navigation).

Now it's been 4 months that I've been living in Japan and I'm using an electricity adaptator (before I was using French electricity 220V). The same problem that I had two years ago occured now, except that I can't upgrade my battery to solve it. Now my computer shuts down when I plug in while computer is on battery. Moreover, the battery life is like 30 minutes... Please Lenovo !

Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

2018-01-02, 20:51 PM

Hi!

2 years ago when I encountered the battery problem on my z510. I only learned about the solution only just last year, after a few months of the release of the said solution. Just a few days ago, it happened again. It started by showing that my battery is weak, then just yesterday, whenever I unplugged my laptop from its charged state, it will just automatically shutdown, just like what happened on my first encounter if the problem 2 years ago.

I tried to use the solution, but what it shows is that the firmware of my battery is already updated. Is there any ways in which I could downgrade or uninstall the firmware? Or is there another solution for my problem? Thanks alot.

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Firmware Issue

2018-01-09, 10:17 AM

Seems like I’m not the only one with this problem and no answers as I can see in this post:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Z510-Battery-Issues/m-p/2248499#M138065

as you can see this post is marked as SOLVED but these is like 14 more pages after that which denies this post as a fix because it DOES NOT SOLVE the problem!

Me and lots of other people have this battery issue, battery indicator shows 100% and stuck on that and after like 30 minutes is turns off without dropping 1%. My searches ended up here that I have to use the firmware update program that always say "there are no attached batteries that require a firmware update" so how about a real fix hah???

Mod's Edit: This post and its reply was merged with an existing discussion.

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Firmware Issue

It's a shame that Lenovo doesn't help us. My laptop started having this issue again in april, and since then I can't use it without the power supply. I just lost my faith in a solution by Lenovo, and I hope that at least my pc still runs attached to my new power supply (because the original burned one month ago in a really long shutdown, i think it's not coincidental...)

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

2018-02-07, 9:51 AM

Guys this worked for me (for now):

when the battery is fully charged:

1- Uninstall Lenovo Energy Manager

2- Restart

3- Reinstall Lenovo Energy Manager

4-Restart

after that I unplugged the charger and its showing the correct remaining of battery and I worked with my laptop like 1hr then I put it on sleep and after 1 night I have turned it on still have 32% battery!

Idk if it have to do anything with this process but for letting you know I did the reinstalling process like 3 times and after that my battery is working fine for now, I dont know how long its gonna work fine but I will let you know if anything changes.

Edit:

it went back to the way it was after the first recharge............... **bleep**!
