I would like to ask customers located in the EU for assistance with my investigation into Z510 battery performance.

If you are located in the EU and might be able to assist, please message me.

Thank you,

Re: Lenovo Z510 Battery Issues

Hi Amy

I'm in Italy and I have the same battery issue. Energy Manager says the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. I did the sensor calibration several times but it keeps filpping from 0 to 100% and the laptop turns off with no warning.
The laptop is still under warranty and I'm thinking about having it replaced.
Thanks for your help

Lucio

Now the Z510 Battery is at 0% and does not charge at all. I uninstalled the Enargy Manager and installed it again with no use. I've uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and restared the laptop with no use also. Have tried the Guage reset with no use also.

The current firmware is  0005-0051-0032-0005. Is there any way to force updating the firmware???

Please advice on this issue. Will it be fixed via firmware update or do I need to get battery and voltage sensors replaced?

If no answer until end of the month, I will return my laptop as warranty will run out.

Lenovo sent me a replacement battery which I installed myself. I strongly suggest you to return it before warranty expires

Thanks for the advice. Does it work once battery is replaced? I was worried it has something to do with the voltage sensor.

I have exactly the same problem. It seems to be a firmware/software issue with LEM with calibration. LEM calibration is useless. If I leave my batterry charging for hours (overnight) it will finally go from 99% to 100% fully charged but like others it will discharge staying on 99% or 100% for ages then rapidly go down and without warning shutdown with no 14% or 7% indication.

On the other hand every customer here who has had their battery replaced has cured the problem! My laptop is 5 months old! There does seem to be a defect with this model and I too cannot afford to have my laptop away for 2-3 weeks.

We need Lenovo to guarantee a battery sent to us for CRU installlation, regardless of on-site warranty or not, as this clearly is a massive problem in this model. There are too many with the same defect not to be.
