Lenovo Z570 Upgradable RAM

2020-09-16, 9:34 AM

HI,

I have a Lenovo Z570  laptop.

Here are the details:

Lenovo - Z570

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz

Installed RAM 4.00GB

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Is it OK to upgrade to an 8 or 16 RAM for gaming? What specs should I look for in buying RAM? (BRAND, et al)

Hello Jlewis40,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The Lenovo Z570 has these memory specs:

• Up to 8 GB DDR3 1066/1333 SODIMM (x2), Support Dual Channel '

Brand name does not matter as long as the specs above are the same.

Rules to enable dual-channel mode:

To achieve dual-channel mode, the following conditions must be met:

Same memory size. Examples: 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB etc

Matched DIMM configuration in each channel.

Matched in symmetrical memory slots.

Configurations that do not match the above conditions revert to single-channel mode. The following conditions do not need to be met:

Same brand

Same timing specifications (CL14, 15, 19 etc.  - CAS latency - Lower the better)

Same speed (MHz)

The slowest DIMM module populated in the system decides memory channel speed.

Now 8GB is what the unit has been tested with. I would believe the device can handle more then this, but I can not recommended as the documentation does not.

This is something you'd eventually have to try out yourself.

Regards

Voithos
