Lenovo z50-75 how do i activate Turbo Core?

2014-12-25, 19:55 PM

Hello,

Model: Lenovo z50-75

AMD Vision A8-7100 Processor ,max 3,0 GHz,  Quad-Core

AMD Radeon R5 M230 Grafik, 2048 MB

8GB DDR3 Memory

Took this from an Notebook review on Notebookcheck(dot)net:

"It is comprised of the integrated Radeon R5 Kaveri graphics core and the dedicated Radeon R5 M230 GPU. The GPUs operate in a so-called Crossfire array, i.e. both cores can perform the calculation of displayed images. This process is, for example, used in computer games. Only the integrated GPU is used for routine tasks and in battery mode"

i've managed to finally install Windows on the Laptop.

But unfortunately he's pretty slow, even with the 4GB added memory.

When i bought it, it was said it had 4x 1,8Ghz CPU speed which could go on up to 3Ghz.

Also this dual Graphics solution is somewhy worse than the desktop Computers is, even though the Desktop computer has way worse components. It's said that the normal usage of the computer only requires the graphic processors of the GPU. however there is a graphic card with dedicated memory which should be activated whenever requirement on higher performance applications / games is needed.

Somewhy i don't feel anything of this higher performance.

How can i absolutely max out the speed of the computer?

It's plugged to the electricity supply.

Tried looking through the AMD Catalyst Control Center, but it's not very user-friendly nor helpful or well organized.

Does anybody have a solution for this?

How do i max out the speed to the very edge?

Thanks in advance.

Found the solution.

Didn't think of it earlier as i thought "AMD OverDrive" was only for "risky" overclocking.

Step 1. Download AMD OverDrive

Step 2. Select: "Apply Turbo Core"

Thanks anyways............ ......

Can anybody tell me please? AMD doesn't provide such software like Intel to overclock.

Except for AMD Overdrive which would make me lose my warranty on it.

It automatically overclocks depending on the load and temperature as long as the power plan is set to high performance. Try monitoring with Core Temp to see if the CPU overclocks under load

I've tried several Benchmark performance tests.

the CPU doesn't clock higher than 1800 Mhz.

In the AMD Catalyst Control Center i can set them between 1100Mhz - 1800Mhz, but NOT higher.

So is the AMD Catalyst Control Center restricting it to clock higher? i've set it to 1200 Mhz while the Benchmark was running and both Core Temp and CPU-Z have shown me that the clocking speed went down to a maximum of 1200 Mhz.

How can i unlock these 1800 Mhz?

Please somebody help me ... that's frustrating

I can't believe you need an amd software just to enable turbo core. It's not fair for customers for that functionality not available out of the box. At least Intel lets users get turbo out of the box.

Hello, Dima!  I installed Overdrive, applied the turbo core function. Even with it it does not allow me to change the boost level which is a pitty. Look here - when i choose boost level 0 or 1  and apply it nothing changes.
Also the AMD System monitor does not show GPU activity.

I have the same issue with my AMD A10 7300. I can not change anything in Overdrive, everything is automatic and unchangable. I want to put my cpu to constant 3.2 GHZ and not turbo since turbo only peaks 3.2 a few times and its not enough for high demanding (rendering) games like GTA V (GPU though is working excelent, R6 and R5M230 combined, with a bit of overclock on the R6)

i read thisd in hope of an answer but i didnt see one so i did some investigating myself.

first you need to set your power options to high performance in control panel

you then need to download amd catalyst control centre the latest one (at time of writing this it was 1`4.12)

then you need amd overdrive (at time of writing this 4.3.1. 0698) then restart then run amd overdrive

mine is running cpu at 3229mhz max per core on all 4 cores :) lowest normally is 2725mhz

hope this helps
