Re: Looking to purchase Lenovo Y500

Thanks for the tip on calling them.  Although i wasn't able to get through via phone. I got a chat session going.  the first guy was like "it's already on sale".  but when i tried a bit later, the other guy was like he can get it to 819.  Which is pretty good i think.  Did you have to pay extra for GT650M ?  how did it come out to 1000 as you mentioned?

Yeah, I paid $1100  total, but that was on Canadian site with friends of employee pricing. the adapter and graphics card were about 50% off for two days,  and I had to buy seperate.

As an American you may be able to get a good price For the entire SLI machine ( without dvd) on Newegg or Amazon?? Really, I have not looked into it, I just snagged the deal when I could and I didn't talk to any reps myself.

Not really.  I couldn't find anything cheaper than what was on this site.  New egg and Amazon are higher priced at the moment.  I think you can't beat 819.  I'm still confused as to what you got for 1100 vs what I got.

Yes,  the computer was $900  including  tax, the Ultrabay card and 170W adapter were seperate.  I'm not sure if you wanted the SLI configuration or not,  so just providing info.

Apparently the sale really didn't end on APR 10.  The price for the one i got is still 849.00.  I think this is a great price for anyone else looking for a FHD screen.  Curious if anyone else has others that are FHD and at this price point.

they had upgraded the graphic card from GT650 to 750 for both Y400 & 500 like 2days ago with the same price tag... Hope u did not place the order, yet. Right now, even I regretted for buying the Y400, with GT650 three weeks ago...

I already placed my order.  I did notice that.  Kind of sucks.  Not sure what to do about it now.  I would hate to wait to send it back and wait another month since I need a laptop now...

I called Lenovo sales departement regarding the change in graphics card.  They said mine has not shipped yet, and they can "swap it out".  Basically adds 4 days more to my ship date.  It's not really a swap out, but cancel and reorder.  I went for it.  Again, thanks guys!  It's because I got an email alerting me this forum had upaded that got me checking.  I can live another 4 days for a much better graphics card.  Thanks!!
