Welcome to the forum.

Try the Realtek link below to download and install the latest audio driver both for Vista and XP, version R2.07. It might improve the sound.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

The resulting icon, Realtek HD Audio Manager, in the taskbar provide options to adjust the settings for microphone, speakers, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I also am facing the problem of low sound volume in XP as comapred to what was there in Vista.

As for connecting to the TV, you can use a VGA-VGA cable if your TV has VGA input connector. Or you can use VGA-RGB cable if your TV has 3 RGB inputs. See the inputs on your TV to figure out what cable you need.

I use the VGA-VGA connector and watch movies on my TV all the time using the laptop :)

For sound I use the headphone jack connector.

Hope this helps.
