Missing Nvidia Graphics Card - Z580

2012-07-11, 17:47 PM

I've just joined the community as I'm looking for some help with my now laptop. It arrived today from another seller, with an intel i5 processor, 8GB ram, 750GB hard drive, and supposedly an Nvidia GT640M dedicated graphics card.

While the model is correct, and everything seems to be in order, I noticed the 'nvidia' sticker was not on the laptop. Therefore, I went to look on the devices associated with the computer, and found that only the 'Intel HD 4000' integrated graphics card is shown as a display adapter, with no Nvidia in sight. I therefore have only got the Intel control panel.

I called the support line, and they gave me two options, which were to update the graphics card's drivers, and to check the Bios to make sure that the graphics have been set as switchable. I am currently in the process of downloading the driver, and wanted to know if anyone else has any experience with such a situation? Is it simply a case of the graphics card being missing from the hardware?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

You didn't happen to buy the Laptop from Very.co.uk?

I purchased the same laptop but I was working abroad in Holland at the time and didn't open the laptop until the 31st of Aug..

I have contacted Very and I'm awaiting an answer from them as to how they will resolve the issue as they advertised the GT 630m VERY clearly and have since remove the SKU number and everything from there website, so they're obviously aware of the issue.

Hi... you can enter Country/Region and Serial Number of any Lenovo laptop model

in Product Configuration page and get detailed list of all components used to build

that particular machine...
