2020-06-24, 19:05 PM
I am a vlogger and previously i used idepad 510 amd ride videomicro mic. In ideapad 510 everytime when i plug in it pops up and ask what to select like Headphone/mic/Headphone with mic. But In my Y540 its not asking and Utomatically it detect as headphone. I want to select itbas mic , but in relatek sound manager there is no option for that. How to select it as mic. Or inwould like to enable somethimg pop up to selext wjen i insert something in 3.5mm jack.

My New Legion Y540 not recognizing external Mic?

I have the exact same issue as you. I used to use Dell G3 and the popout came out as you described on your Idea 510. But now, on my Legion5, I'm getting the same behaviour as yours in your Y540. I highly suspect that it's the same issue as in this article although the article talks only about Ideapad 100: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT103046 That is, I suspect my Legion5 and your Y540 don't support microphones whose plugs have only two black circles, not three. When I looked at my external microphone's plug, it indeed wasn't like the picture in the article (i.e., it had 2 black circles, not 3). So, like the article says, the solution is probably to buy some kind of adapter. Not 100% sure, of course :)
