New SSD - Questions about recovery and partitions - Y700-15ISK

2017-02-07, 22:50 PM

Just installed and cloned into a Samsung 960 EVO 500 GB on my Y700-15ISK. I now have Disc 0 (HDD) with the original Lenovo partitions and Disc 1 (SSD) with 3 partitions:

Questions:

1. Which partitions on Disc 0 (HDD) can I safely delete so as to clear space while keeping the Lenovo recovery features available?

2. Do I have to transfer Lenovo recovery partitions to SSD to be able to fresh install the SSD? Or can I run recovery from Disc 0 (HDD) into the SSD?

Looking at the partitions the only partition that is large is the 19.63 GB. But you can't delete this without destroying the OKR process (that is it needs this for restoration to factory condition). E: drive can just be access normally and if you copy the driver files and the OKR user backup files (it is hidden - you can unhide it) then you can delete this drive and merged it. Nothing much really that you can do.

Hey thanks! So as long as I keep the 19.3 GB + LENOVO E: Drive I can use OKR?

What about the OEM one or the other 'recover' partitions?

Also, can I use E:'s OKR while booted from the SSD?

As long as you did not do anything to the original partitions, OKR will be alright with Lenovo E erased. Of course you should make the original disk as your boot disk.

As to the OKR from the ssd I'm afraid it is not going to work. The cloning is not that perfect so that OKR is not working.
