Re: Display problem, color settings and a mirror image backup plan on a Y560

In Lenovo Energy Management App, select the gear icon on the very bottom. Select the Smart Control tab and uncheck the ALS setting.  First thing I did when I got my laptop.  Extremely annoying.

Re: New discussion Y560 display issues

2010-12-16, 18:09 PM

I sympathize with those suffering greatly from these issues but I'm not running into issues so far.  Thus far the testing I've done with the y560 I purchased for my son for Christmas (I'm getting it ready for him to use and testing along the way).  I can see gradient banding if looking at the display off-axis (looking upward into the display, as if I had the lid opened too far for normal viewing), but then again I can do the same thing on my 2010 MacBook Pro, so no issues there as far as I'm concerned.  I can say that it's not as brilliant a display as the one on my Mac but then again the Apple cost 2.5 times what I paid for the y560 and isn't nearly as powerful (even though it's a Core i7 as well).

I've been so impressed that I actually purchased a second unit for myself that will show up tomorrow.  I'll be sure to compare the two closely to see if there are any noticable differences in displays, and other components.

Brand New Y560 laptop with Display Issues

2010-12-18, 5:03 AM

Hey Guys,

I just got a brand new Y560 today and after i turned it on i noticed very faint vertical lines running up and down the screen. These lines are equally spaced and are all over the screen. You can see these lines better on lighter colours like white blue and grey.

I tried updating the drivers and flashed the bios.

I was wondering if anyone else is have this problem. I had a y450 before this and it did not have with screen problem. I put both the laptops beside each other and the y450 seems to be clearer.

The resolution of both the computers is the same 1366x768

I just want to know if anyone else has these faint lines. Thanks in advance.

No, I haven't had any display problems (except that sometimes the screen seems too bright).  I don't have any lines.

My Y560d is about 5 weeks old. My resolution is also set at 1366x768.

Thanks for the info..hmm,

It could be because you might have the y560d while I have the y560.

Anyone else who owns a y560, can you please comment on it.

Which computer do you have?
Does it has two video cards? ATI and Intel?
Do you have the 3D version, Y560d?

I have a Y560 which has a ATI Mobility Radeon. Not sure if it has a second video card (how do I find it out?).

Do you have a video card switch on the front? Next to the switch to turn on and off the Wi-Fi?

Can you post the model number of your computer? Not the serial, the model.
