Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

2014-02-19, 19:22 PM

Hi,

Lenovo is currently working on 802.11ac support for the y510p.  They are in the process of testing.

Regarding the 7260 card, on Lenovo's ThinkPad website there are new Intel version 16.8 drivers.  Here is the link:

These drivers work ok.

Hello,

thx for reply.

What is the best way to install these drivers. Does it matter or it is better to do it through safe mode?

Thank you very much

The install will upgrade the existing software.  If you want to remove old software first, go to Control Panel, Programs

and uninstall The Proset/Wireless software.

If nothing works, just get a USB wifi and move on.

I'm using 7260 and Windows 8.1 and haven't had any problem with wifi connection. So, can't imagine that it will help. Anyway, since you want to return the notebook, just give it a try.

Let's know if it works.

I cannot really get my money back, It is not possible in my country. I gotta try downgrade since proper drivers are not working in W 8.1 for me.This issue is reallyy frustrating, I cant play games, work properly etc so I may sound little pissed off  :)

I wanna know if this is software issue or my WIFI adapter is just not working properly but dont know how.

My current driver is the one recommended few posts above which is: Intel (Date 19.9.2013) version 16.5.3.6

Agriggs can you check what kind of drivers is used in your computer?

I guess I ll try  some other reinstallation, downgrade to W8 but then no option left.

Thank you very much

I'm using the same driver (16.5.3.6), which came with my notebook.
