Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

2014-02-21, 0:24 AM

Hi, got this laptop about a month ago but ever since I first got it, the wifi has had problems.  It constantly disconnects and will never remain stable.  I tried somethings such as updating all my wifi drivers.  What else can I do to fix this problem?

Hi,

I can definitely feel you. Buy new Y510 and feel like idiot. What is more surprising for me that this thread has 17 pages.

I tried reinstalling allmost every driver that i Found  - nothing worked it was even more horrible - whole my WIFI router was disconnecting whole network when my Lenovo connected ...... awesome really

But after some googling and asking IT guys, lof of them told me that if I downgrade WIndows 8.1 to 8.0 it ll work.

I did it yesterday and had one drop since then, so ok this problem is again not solved. Please can somebody help us? I dont know what to do more.......

Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

Hello all,

New to this forum as I just got my Y510P a week ago and have experienced this same problem of dropped WiFi connections.  I have tried all the obvious fixes listed earlier, and some worked for awhile and then back to SoS again.  Today I tried seemingly the simplest one of moving the laptop some 5-10 feet closer to my Verizon Modem/Wireless router and not only did I double my connection speed (the same w/ my 6 yr old Dell Inspiron which never lost connection but was always a lot slower in a certain spot) but I have not have had a single dropped connection in a few hours.

I guess this means that I either need to just have my laptop in a different place which is a hassle because it is at the other end of the living room away from the entertainment center where I like to use it especially during sporting events to chat w/ on-line sports fans of my ilk, or move the router closer which means wires all over that area, or finding some way to boost the signal either from the router or @ my laptop.  Anybody have experience either way?  I really like this laptop except for the wireless issue.

Good Luck all.

Hey guys,

I know it is frustrating but that is laptop in the end  good.

I think I did it for me - but right now dont know which solution worked.

I downgraded to 8.0 from 8.1 but still had those disconnect.

But I think that turning HT mode off and newest drivers did it for me. 3 days no drop

Try to turn HT off - it is in Propereties of n7260, second bookmark.

I ll probably try to install windows 8.1 with this HT off if that was whole issue....

Good luck with that
