Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

In case you need a proper manual, download Y510p's manual and follow the directions to replacing the WiFi. Try to reseat the antenna plugs and see if the link speed improves.

Also, you need to set the channel width to "auto" on your internal WiFi adapter's settings by going to device manager -> network adapters and double click on your wireless adapter:

I haven't seen anywhere in the thread being suggested to change the wifi channel?

Try analyzing your local wifi network and if possible, shift your router to broadcast to a channel with less local clutter.

Hi All,

What "tonkemaskin" has described to try here is definitely true. It is worth looking into to change the channels of the router. On the other hand i was wondering what routers are using?

Hope to hear back.

Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

I have the Netgear N600 3400 model. It works on wifi N on all other devices in the house iPad, Sony laptop, Mac laptop, Samsung S3. Only works on wifi G on the Lenovo Y510P. On N mode connection is dropped every 10 minutes or so.

I just bought the Auss RT-N66U N900 last weekend. Now the Lenovo Y510P works in Wifi N but everytime the computer wakes from sleep, it appears connected but wifi does not work. When i turn on and off airplane mode, it starts to work.

Overall... There is something wrong with this model. Lenovo should be addressing this. Forcing consumers to buy different routers is not acceptable.

Cjose: I think many on the forum have found ways to...minimize the annoyance. But this also seems to be a problem with the actual hardware, if you look at the developer forum. I don't mind it so much, since I don't play many online games.

It might be smart to get an external USB wifi adapter when you want to play online games, and use the wifi card included with the laptop for most other things.

Perhaps there will be a fix in the future.

Only fix that works is to disable wifi n in the device manager intel n2230 advanced properties.

You'll be using wifi g but it will be good enough for games.

This laptop does not work on wifi n

Re: New y510p with a wifi problem

I've had this problem with my y510p since receiving it in June.  All drivers are up to date.

"Internet" comes and goes on wifi.  Never on ethernet.

I installed netgear's Genie app which checks for internet often and you can see it toggle between red and green, connected and not.  This is not a problem on my phone or other machine and it happens on many networks, so it really does appear to be the Lenovo machine.

I nearly returned it when this happened on the first day I had it, but I needed it for a trip.  I hope you can fix it through firmware.

I can sometimes get it to work again by using win 8's troubleshooter which resets the adapter.  After which it says that it reestablinshed connection to default gateway.  But maybe it would have come back on its own, even if I hadn't done anything.
