New z580 with Free DOS

2012-09-11, 1:55 AM

Hello anyone viewing this post.

I just ordered a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 M81F6GE  that should be arriving in the next 3 days, in preparation I already Bought  Windows 7, and started downloading all the drivers here http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Now ive looked more into it and it seems the OneKey Rescue is not available for download, Most people suggest if you accidentally deleted it with your win7 you need to send your laptop back to lenovo. In my case , im getting the laptop with only DOS on it, so how would that work?

Does the DOS have the prerequisite Drivers in the laptop already or what am I supposed to do once i receive it.

Any help or answer would be appreciated.

Edit: I also don't seem to be able to find the VeriFace, OneKey Theater, and Direct Share for this specific laptop at any lenovo official website.

Thanks for the reply.

Thats a huge dissapointment, I don't think they should advertice the OneKey Recovery with DOS,  if its not available.

How about the OneKey Home Theater and other programs i mentioned above, Is it possible to get them  on my laptop?

Hi Shade,

my Free DOS Y560p model came with a Driver DVD,

Win7 has restore function build in, just put an HDD image on a external drive and burn the system repair disk in windows,

no need for OKR,

probably you don't want to use VeriFace, OneKey Theater and Direct Share, they can sometimes be troublesome gimmicks.

just my two cents... Zehn

İ believe that OKR can be used to do back ups,

but simply can NOT be used to restore to factory,

as your system does NOT have the partition necessary for it.

Not for my model, even tho there should be. hence why i asked. my last hope is that the laptop might come with a CD with all the drivers.

Otherwise i will have to issue a refund, No point in paying for a laptop and not having half of the features adverticed, I can deal with not having the OneKey Recovery but if more then that is missing or not available then not.

Thanks for your help.

You're welcome.

Look since you want all of the Lenovo programs on it,

why don't you get an OEM installed  OS instead?

That way if any program,is not to your liking,

you can then disable it.and keep what you like.

İ like the OKR software,i think you may too.

I bought the Laptop Brand new on Ebay with a 1 year garanty from a German Shop, they only had one last available z580 laptop which did not include Windows 7 and they do not offer installing it either.

İ see,

well i thought you bought it from a shop in your area,or a Lenovo site,

that's why i suggested, returning it and getting a OEM installed

OS instead.(that means that the OS is pre-installed on the laptop)

Sorry don't know what else to tell you.
