No speaker output (no sound) after virus removal or unsuccesful attempt to upgrade to Windows 8.1

2014-06-11, 4:33 AM

Got my IdeaPad Y410 P back from virus removal and it's working great but there is no sound. No sound from built in speakers, no sound with headphones. In Control Panel > Sound > Playback (Devices)  it says "no audio devices are installed". Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks a bunch for the advice, I did all the updates (Internet Explorer upgrade in particular was one of them) and then downloaded the Realtek Audio driver from the Lenovo website for my specific laptop and it restarted and the volume is back.  Thanks again!

Hello rdschetz ,

Welcome to Lenovo Community !

Please re-install the sound driver below  for Windows 8 64 bit  and for upgrade error please see link  below try to complete updates on windows 8 first. If you upgrade , you might need to face driver issues , which you need to download from the Lenovo Support site for Window 8.1 64 bit.
