P1 Gen2 Missing keystrokes

2020-03-22, 15:21 PM

I am starting this thread anew, as the previous threads on this issue have disappeared and don't appear to be coming back anytime soon. :(

I have a P1 Gen2 (20QTS00Y00) that regularly fails to recognize keystrokes, especially when the CPU is not idle. For example, I am currently re-indexing my Outlook contents in Windows 10, and as I type, many key presses fail to register (4-8% CPU load at this time). I have the latest BIOS, drivers, etc. from Lenovo. I have the latest Windows updates. This issue has existed since I received the system in late December. Lenovo has not responded to this issue other than tech support wanting to replace the physical keyboard (and this does not appear to be a physical keyboard issue).

I am dumbfounded at Lenovo's lack of attention/response to this issue. A similar issue appears to be happening on the X1 (but again, that thread is gone). To purchase one of Lenovo's top systems and get a worse-than-a-MacBook keyboard experience is unacceptable. I purchased this system based on Lenovo's history of offering good keyboard experiences. I guess things have changed.

Post moved into correct Board.

This isn't something I've tracked but I see multiple P1 threads, and a 66-page X1E thread:

Then the search functionality is completely broken...

And the thread I started in the X1 group was edited twice by @Andy_Lenovo. I can't see what was edited, and the thread is no longer accessible.

Also, I had subscriptions to the older two threads (likely the one you list above was one of them). Those subscriptions are gone.

The new forum hosting software is a work in progress...  for now I find it easier and more effective to use The Google to dig out forum threads.

Locking this thread as a duplicate and moving to Housekeeping. The original one never disappeared, some content did for a while and has since been fully restored. You can find the original in the X Series ThinkPad board usually near the top of the page.
