Hello Dexwiller,

It is Power Management Tool ,  Of  course !  if you change the " power saving mode " which means sets CPU to use less power  which result low performance on CPU  !  So this is normal.  You can watch cpu activity with turbo boost monitor !

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor

For example ,

  1.  Open a word document with power saving mode you will see that CPU will not work fast  low performance in the monitor .
  2. Open a word document with high performance you will see that CPU will work fast in the monitor .

New CPUs dynamically managing their speeds their  selves in terms of power etc..

It is all about power management software  which comes with Lenovo  !

Read my answer below  related to this topic  as well !

OKR-MAN dude this is complete different scenerio here.. dont compare it with your Y series turbo boost logic.

@chavanshashank

My answer was the for the first post !  This is all about energy management software  , my post is not mainly focused on Turbo Boost Staff  , with turbo boost monitor you can view CPU acitvity.

Lenovo Energy Management should be on High Performance ,  Energy Star , Balanced other option with low performance will not allow CPU to work fast !  There is no way to make CPU high perfomance until you change it to high performance , energy star and balanced.

For those interested in Turbo Boost Monitor a utility made by Intel it will be tag as EOL (End of Life) on June 2014.

If you also search in Intel's site, the utility does not support 4th generation processors.

For those who cant install Intel Monitoring tool , please use other cpu monitoring tool to see energy management effect to CPU behavior.
