Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

2014-06-08, 9:52 AM

With the new BIOS the CPU can modify its multiplier after cold boot/wake up, so it seems that the original problem has gone. Thank you again!

However after flashing the new BIOS the screen under Windows (8.1) sometimes blinks.

It goes to black for a couple of seconds.

Does anyone else experience the same?

Anyway the support page of Z510 still says "Bios update is not required for this product - Notebook, Desktop"

Please upload the new BIOS to this page too. (And the previous one too, in case of failure)

Have you modified your machine's stock hw configuration? Maybe there are some restrictions to run the update.
For example if you replaced your ODD with a caddy-bay you cannot run the update from a drive installed in that bay.

So maybe you have to run it from SATA0 (from the main drive).
