Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

2014-06-17, 18:57 PM

I bought Lenovo Z510 yesterday. i noticed something weird today. My CPU is stuck at 0.77GHz. I have the lastest BIOS (which is apparently suppose to fix this issue). Please assist me. Or should I get it replaced?
My power profile is High Performance (Min and Max processor usage is set to 100). I am running it on AC power. After 2-3 reboots it fixes itself but then again goes back to 0.77GHz state.

HELP ME!!!

hi bhavinshah_321,

If you already installed the BIOS Update 8DCN39WW (V39), can you try to:

1. Turn the computer off, press the OneKey Recovery button and choose BIOS setup. From here, confirm that you have the BIOS Version 8DCN39WW installed.

- Sample image

2. If BIOS Version 8DCN39WW is confirmed, press F9 to reload BIOS defaults then press F10 to save and exit.

This should reload the default BIOS settings and should re-apply the fix mentioned in this link.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

I tried it earlier itself. It didn't help. I also enabled the downgrade bios option. And reinstalled the same BIOS again. It still didn't help. What do I do?

Thanks

Bhavin

Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

It usually happens when i play a high end game and then shut the game down and laptop stays idle for like 5mins. It has something to do with the multiplier. When its at 0.77GHz, the multipier is 8. The multiplier doesnt increase no matter what you do. I tried putting the system at stand by and waking it up. Now the multiplier is stuck at 22. I tried putting it to stand by and waking it up like 3 more times, no luck. My multiplier is still stuck at 22. It has the capability to go till 32. After waking up the PC from stand by and disconnecting the charger and connecting it back puts the multiplier back in action. It can now change and the CPU isnt stuck anymore. The freq changes depending upon the usage. But still this is just a temporary fix. What's the permanent fix?
