Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

2014-07-15, 11:47 AM

Could you please ask the engineers to look into this issue. It's getting really annoying now. On AC mode CPU just randomly gets stuck at 0.77Ghz for unknown reason. This laptop is more like a PC for me. I rarely use it on battery. It's always on power supply.

Hi Lenovo.  So it is clear that people are still having problems with this unit.  Can someone from Lenovo at least respond so we know that someone is at least looking into this please??

I haven't heard anything from lenovo since that bios update was posted, but that clearly is NOT fixing all of our problems.

Again, just a response from you guys might put us at ease in knowing that you are at least trying to address our issues.  I really want to support lenovo products, but slow response to issue is not a good way to keep customers coming back to you.

I read on this forum that Acer customers had the same issues and they got taken care of relatively quickly.  Lenovo customers on the other hand have been dealing with these problems for MANY months now.

Seriously this is getting very annoying now. Useless lazy uneducated engineers at Lenovo. Can't fix anything. This was my first Lenovo system. Huge mistake. My friend was gonna buy Z510 with same specs as mine. I made him buy a Dell Inspiron after I showed him how pathetic Lenovo products are. I will never recommend anyone to buy Lenovo products.

Hi everybody!

I recently buy a Lenovo Y40 and I had the same problem! That's not the fault of Lenovo ! It's a new feature of intel processor anyway... I searched a lot and now I'm here to tell how I fix it so Enjoy :D!
Okay so download the application ThrottleStop
Open it and you will see the option BD PROCHOT (That's the new feature! google it;) )
UNCHECK it! and VOILÀ ! (You need to CHECK set multiplier too because it dosen't work if you don't)(You need to have this application open all the time!)
It work for me and I hope it will work for u :D!
(Sorry for my bad English I'm young and speak french)

BD PROCHOT has absolutely no connection with this. People with laptops at temp of 40 degrees too are experiencing this.
Disabling BD PROCHOT will just over heat your laptop. This really isn't a solution. In fact it might even damage your laptop.

bhavinshah_321 - Do you know what BD PROCHOT is? What does it stand for? You say that disabling BD PROCHOT will overheat your laptop so can you explain this further? Disabling PROCHOT is not the same as disabling BD PROCHOT.

Pugl1- You are correct.  I originally posted about ThrottleStop many pages ago in this forum but hardly anyone has tried it. Until this problem is properly fixed with a bios update by Lenovo, the only solution is ThrottleStop. Enabling Set Multiplier and setting that to the highest value will instantly restore your laptop to its full Intel rated speed. If you run ThrottleStop all the time and set it up correctly, you will never be stuck at 0.77 GHz again. You can minimize ThrottleStop to the System Tray and forget about this problem.

I do not own a Z510.  When setting up ThrottleStop on my Y510P, BD PROCHOT also needs to be disabled to keep the CPU running at its proper speed. Thanks for posting this.  You can download ThrottleStop 6 from TechPowerUp.
