Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

2014-03-30, 3:38 AM

I have got a simlar problem with my Z510 having core i5-4200M...

Whenever I turn on my system on battery after  a shutdown the processor frequency stays at 0.75 ghz or at max may go for 1/2 sec to 0.77ghz but not more than that whatever maybe the cpu utilization even if it 100%...

This thing only resolves if either I do a restart or plug in the power adapter (need not be kept pluged.. can be removed just after a second being pluged)

The customer care of lenovo is worst of its kind that fail to provide a suitable solution to a problem all they say for any kind of problem is to do that onkey recovery... But that didn't help either as the issue seems to with bios...

When I explained the entire thing even more clearly and asked for  bios update they would repond saying a bois update is not available for this model and is not required either...

Plz someone help me.. Anyone who has authority take this issue to lenovo and let them release a bios update ...

as far customer care is concerned they don't seem to take it as a issue at all...

they would either say that frequency is controlled by OS so there nothing they could do or else they would say that the frequency limiting is reduce battery consumption... What the hell?

If we were really worried of battery consumption wouldn't we go for Ultra Low Voltage Processors !
