2013-09-25, 19:19 PM

Hello Guys !

I have bought a Y510p yesterday in India and doesnt have an SSD Cache and a Super Slow 5400rpm Mechanical Disk  ! .. it has accomodation for SSD (not talking about a  2.5')  ! ..But i am no where to find the proper documentation to specifiy the technical details about the Port ! Is it an NGFF/ M.2 ? ( Correct me if i am wrong please) , if Yes what  the length  30 mm, 42 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm which one will be supported ? , are there any other technical details and specifications which are to be taken care when buying this vivid form factor SSD , or lenovo has left this as homework for its customers ?

Please provide me some list of online products which are compatible !

 The "Port" !

M.2 is a new kind of connection replacing mSATA. AFAIK there's currently no M.2 drive available in retail.

I have SSD in mSATA port, HDD in it's designed slot and another HDD in the caddy... It's definitely worth doing. I rarely need the optical drive, and when I do, it's a quick and easy swap.

Betreff: SSD (not 2.5') Installation Y510p

2014-03-28, 12:05 PM

Hello Guys,

i do have the same Laptop and im still confused about the SSD SLot. All i know is that it is a mini-PCI express Slot. Is it for a 1.8" mSata or an NGFF/ M.2? Is a 1.8" mSata SSD compatible with it?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Regards,

Dhiejavu
