Synaptics Touchpad Vertical Scolling Stops/Starts in Chrome, others

2013-10-07, 20:34 PM

I have found the Synaptics Touchpad vertical scrolling works, then stops as I browse around in

Chrome and some other programs.  It's very erratic.  The mouse movements themselves with

the touchpad are fine, it's just the two finger scrolling I'm talking about here.

Very frustrating as it works fine on one page, then go somewhere else and it stops, then go

somewhere different and it's working...driving me nuts!

This has all the latest drivers on Windows 8 and latest version of Chrome.  Has anybody ever

seen this?  I have most of the multi-finger gestures turned on and use them - or at least try to

use them.

I have several issues with my new Y 510 P ,and this scrolling problem is one of them .

What I found out was that if i put the pointer in the left upper corner on the page you want to scroll ,the scrolling will work 99% of the time .

Can you confirm this as well ? I know it doesn't solve our problem ,but perhaps some wizzkid might recognize a pattern of some kind ??:smileysad:

I am sort of able to live with this now.  I have found a pattern of sorts.  It does work most

of the time, but if you jump to a page in Chrome that has alot of content, maybe video, etc.,

and you start to scroll before the page is fully loaded - it seems to NOT work.

However if you right-click in the page or title bar at the top and the context menu appears and then

click again to get it to disappear, the scrolling starts to work without doing anything else.  Not sure

if this is what you meant.

Seems to be related to the content still being painted in the window and not being done 100%.

So not sure if this is really the brower's fault or the driver's fault.  I have not tried with any

other browsers.  But I also have this issue in some pages without much content, but should scroll,

but the context menu click seems to make it work anyway.  So I'm doing this now to live with it.

I am wondering ; one of the other issues with my touchpad is that the pointer often jumps away two millimeters  at the exact moment when you  tap on something onscreen. So you have to reposition the pointer in order to make the click.

I've tried everything possible in Synaptics and W8 settings but I'm unable to fix the jumping.......

Is this something you recognize on your 510 ?

Any solution for one of the above mentioned problems from Lenovo ???

Can I get a refund ?

Touchpad and wireless Intel 2230 are not worthy of Lenovo and I'm becoming fysically sick of my 1000 euro purchase.

I'm not some rich kid and had to save money for about 13 months to be able to buy this pc..............

I'm very very disappointed in the way Lenovo ignores customers .

I don't have the jumpiness too bad, but might be a setting for sensitivity.

As far as the non-scrolling sometimes in some apps (ie, Chrome), I've just come

to live with it for now.  It's a bug in the driver, and don't expect a fix any time some.

The trick of clicking in the title bar to get the context menu and then click to make

it disappear works alot of the time, but not always and sometimes I just can't

get it to scroll on a page.  Scrolling with the touchpad and the regular scrollbar is

very difficult, but I do it when I have to, and then the 2-finger scrolling magically returns.

Have to learn to live with it as a workaround for now.

Tried everything possible  ,both in the Synaptics and the Win 8 settings but the jumping persists.

At first  it was a little annoying ,but now I'm getting fed up with this irritating problem.

As stated before ,I payed a thousand euros for a pc that gives me a headache ,since I'm having problems with the wireless Intel card as well....it often loses connection when downloading  large files from the internet.

The Y 510 P can't even compete with my 5 year old Sony Vaio CR 19 vnb laptop .
