TOTAL boot failure in Y510p

2014-06-11, 8:32 AM

So after a normal shutdown on Win8.1 I restart my system and..............nothing, the lenovo boot logo appears but not the spinning dot-circle that is followed by windows' login screen.

I can't access the bios, boot selection menu or even the one-key recovery, what is going on? did anyone get the same problem? how you fixed it?

Did you try pressing the NOVO button on the side of your laptop to access the OKR?

Can you try working on ONLY BATTERY.

If that doesnt work, take out the battery and ONLY Plug in the adapter.

This could be a power issue thats re-setting your laptop.

Also try,

Take out AC adapter and Battery

Press the Power button for 20 secs

Connect everything again and reboot.

This should reset your BIOS if thats causing a startup problem.

Tried all 3, don't know how taking out the battery and the AC then pressing the power button would make any difference but tried anyways, and still the same.

BTW forgot to mention that I have to take out the battery because it keeps going on and off and on, even with the lid closed.

Taking out the battery and pressing power button for 20 seconds, resets your BIOS.

But this more looks like some loop either due to a hardware malfunction or corrupted windows. I don't know why NOVO is also not working.

Did you create a recovery disk ever before?
You can use that to try and recover.

Other than that, probably a support specialist can help you.

It would be weird if it was a corrupted windows since I had that problem in the past and I get a blue screen, can access the BIOS and OKR as well.

This time is NOTHING, only the lenovo boot logo

So you are saying that as soon as you put in your battery, the laptop starts doing that (ON and OFF)?

Or, you press the power button then the system continues in a loop (ON and OFF)?

Usually if its a RAM problem, the system doesnt start and might even make a beeping sound.

If you are comfortable opening up your laptop, you can re-seat the RAM in its position.

Without looking at the laptop its very difficult to diagnose, but to me this looks more like a hardware problem than a software one.
