Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

Ask for a full refund, and buy another computer.
Or that's what I'd do, if I were you.

Here in Argentina, I'm dead: I have to wait for the magical BIOS update to came out.

I got my refund today, about 1.5 weeks after I sent it back.  They refunded everything but the extra $20 I paid for faster shipping.

Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

Hi All

Today I got my computer back from the depot.

* They didn't update with the 58 bios, so I got the same thing back that I have sent.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. I checked my bios version and it was .54

2. I updated to the .58 version

-after an update first boot the high pitch noise was present but after windows installed some drivers and I restarted my laptop it was gone.

3. Yes The pixel static is gone hooray. -< that was the only problem I had from the beginning.

4. The gradient images are not as much as on the pictures posted

-I adjusted brightness and contrast to match my desktop display and now its prefect no gradients.

5. No big mouse issue

6. Can't comment on excel ants around edges when I install it I will check it.

So no more problems and as a result I will not return the laptop since its working fine now, who knows what I might get in another laptop =].

pepemosca you still have other issues which are unacceptable?

magister, I'm glad you got your notebook back!

I still have this issues:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-and-Z-series/Widespread-Y560-Display-Problem/td-p/238949/page/15

The only one I had mostly fixed is the "big mouse".

Check this link:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-and-Z-series/Big-Mouse-Cursor-Bug/m-p/248858#M24481

Unacceptable issues... well...

  1. Ants arround edges (I hate this)
  2. Terrible gradients, look at this pictures: http://drop.io/y560_BIOS_58
  3. Grainy moving pictures: when picture moves along the screen, the solid colors are like gainy.
  4. In one word... the screen is not "Stunning hi-def" as advertised (Lenovo Site)

  5. And personaly: a blue subpixel dead and some bright pixels.

Actually looking more, there are still gradients visible after adjusting which are annoying and hard on eyes but I hope for  the new driver comes out that will fix the issue. Other than that its OK for me so far, unless I see something else am not seeing now.

P.S.. I think I just give excuses not to return the notebook BC I like it LOL even with its display problems (at least the static pixel is gone that was bugging the hell out of me), if only lenovo would fix this grainy picture fast that be great, so that we can finally enjoy our y560's =].

Welcome to the club Sheva24.  Nearly everybody that posts in this thread has the exact same gradient issues and it's sad to see another person join our ranks.

I was in an electronics retailer the other day and saw 2 middle aged women getting the sales pitch on a Y560.  All I could think of at the time was 'Oh jeez DONT DO IT.'
