Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

kyleisntwild, Ahgama and showdoc,

To kind of fix the "Big Mouse pointer", you could do this:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-and-Z-series/Big-Mouse-Cursor-Bug/td-p/240788/page/3

The other issues... We are still waiting Lenovo for a solution.

The remaining problems are:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-and-Z-series/Widespread-Y560-Display-Problem/td-p/238949/page/15 (except the dancing pixels).

Aries,

Not really, people have been reporting what models LCD panels are in their Y560s, by far the most common is the AUO (the one with all the problems), but there have been at least 4 different models of screens reported for the Y560.

As far as the RAM, if it's defective, then the comp will bluescreen frequently, or fail to boot.  Nothing about the RAM would affect the display or it's characteristics.

I just got my Y560 a few days ago.  I have the AUO40EC monitor.

I don't know if I'm lucky, or if the problem is solved, but I have none of these flicker or grainy or ants problems.  Sure my gradients are terrible, but all TN LCD gradients are terrible.

Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

Hi everyone, just needed to report and update you all to my problem with the Y560 display.

I recently purchased a Y560 for college (its been 1 week now). And since today morning I have been having a screen flickering problem. As soon as the Windows welcome screen appears the screen starts flashing on and off, if I start to play a game the screen flashes rapidly or goes white or the computer freezes or all of these.

I updated the ATI Catalyst to the latest version 10.7 a few minutes ago and the problem still persists. Although the flashes arent so frequent they still occur every 5-10 minutes for a 30 seconds period and then stop.

I have also noticed (this may be a co-incidence) that the screen again starts to blink if I move the laptop or open the DVD drive.

Clearly the issue is with the panel.

I talked to the Lenovo Customer Service today and the person simply told me to use the OneTouch Recovery and restore the system to the 1st time initial configurations. Basically I'll have to reconfigure windows (set up the pc name etc) like I did the first time I turned on the computer. Should I do it? Will that solve the problem?

What else should I do?

My monitor model no. is AUO40EC

@CyberRealms: What's the exact version of your graphics driver now? You may have failed to upgrade it.If you don't know how to get it:

Right click "My Computer" > Manage > Device Manager > Expand "Display Adapters" > Right click to the expanded item > Select "Properties" > Go to the "Driver" tab. Driver version is there. Please post the driver date too.

You maybe right, when I go to device manager and click on driver properties I get this version:-

8.753.0.0

But when I go to ATI Catalyst Control Center from the task bar and click on Information, the Catalyst version is 10.7
