USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

Hi All,

I just wanted to offer my thanks to the members of this thread. This has been a very informative and useful thread and I have been impressed with with the 'let's fix it' attitude that I have seen here. It seems to me that the Y560 is a really cool machine but with a few significant problems. We have had a Y510 for several years. I have been impressed with the robust construction and I have especially appreciated the sculpted keyboard. I find that the current style of 'chicklet' keyboards does not afford me sufficient tactile clues to enable me to keep my hands properly positioned when I am touch typing. The Y5xx keyboard, Lenovo's reputation for building quality laptops, and the I7 processor were things which attracted me to consider purchasing the Y560.

With that said, the number and severity of problems about the Y560 that this thread has expressed has convinced me to purchase something else. While I admire all of your patience and persistence in the face of these issues, I do not envy you and I really don't want to join in this particular experience.

Thanks.

Re: Widespread Y560 Display Problem?

I have all the same problems as you guys have... (dancing pixels, gradient colors, ant like edges - not too much of a bother). I will be upgrading to the new .58 bios later today and will report any additional problems.

I hope I don't get any issues like the big mouse cursor and other stuff like that... I bought this laptop thinking it was a good deal but with the display subpar I'm not so sure on my decision anymore... I was undecided between this and the ASUS which was about the same price and same features. I had an old Thinkpad and that has proven it's reliability and quality which pushed me towards the Lenovo. I think even that Thinkpad which is 6+ years old doesn't have a gradient issue as bad as this NEW ideapad.

I just got this laptop yesterday straight from Lenovo and they haven't bothered updating the bios to the newest version knowing full well that they have issues with the older version.

Other then these display issues the performance is great! I hope the display can be fixed then this laptop will be one nice laptop.

Hi All,

We of course want to have a solution for this issue. And i'm still waiting for update from backend team after having some kind users shared their machine and contact info with me. For your information, i have also checked out this issue with Asean service team but they do not have similar case reported. I knew our forum member Ahgama is in Hong Kong has this problem as well. Ahgama, do you mind to share your contact with me for i could inform someone in HK to look into your case?

Regards,
Cleo

Hello Cleo,

Thanks for responding to our posts. I've been sending feedback to Lenovo through the boxes on the driver pages without getting any responses, so it's nice to finally have some communication from a Lenovo employee. Please tell us if there are any updates on this issue! It's terrible how bad Lenovo has been with communication and informing us customers of news, which is exceedingly disappointing.

Hi Cleo
Can you also pass on feedback to your engineering team to NOT SHIP BROKEN DRIVERS.

I swear to god I had issues with both the wireless and SATA until I reverted to manufacturer (atheros wireless) and microsoft windows default (SATA) drivers. I have no idea how it made it past QA frankly speaking.

On top of the screen issue this is unacceptable and really, really, REALLY turning me off ever considering lenovo. I have used many Thinkpads over the years which was the primary factor in picking this laptop but now I know better. Its even putting me off the idea of getting a thinkpad in the future, regardless of how great they may be.
