Will Y510P work with (and boot from) this M.2 SSD?

2014-10-22, 12:08 PM

Hi everybody,

My Y510P came with 1TB SSHD that have 8GB SSD in cache. I found that I've got the M.2 connector as seen in these pictures: http://1drv.ms/1yXVR2t, http://1drv.ms/1yXW9Xj.

I was thinking of buying a 256GB M.2 NGFF SSD to use it for OS and applications only and keep all my data in the 1TB SSHD. I've read, however, that not all M.2 SSD's work with Y510P and some only recognized as cache drives due to some limitations in BIOS. I also read that MyDigitalSSD is known to be working fine with Y510P but I'm not sure.

I found this one (http://www.amazon.com/MyDigitalSSD-256GB-Super-Boot-Drive/dp/B00NY4VIPA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1413978261&sr=8-2&keywords=mydigitalssd+ngff) on Amazon. Do anybody have idea whether it will work with Y510P and will I be able to install OS on it in AHCI mode and not in Compatibility mode?

Thanks in advance,
