Re: Windows 10 - Ideapad Y400 - Touchpad Missing

@LenBlazer - Your post made me realize I hadn't verified I was running the most recent version of BIOS. I was able to find an update here:

Everything worked wonderfully after that, until the next morning. Once again, the touchpad is not functioning and is not listed in the Device Manager.

Please Help!

Out of fustration I decided to start from scratch. First, I created an installation DVD with the Media Creation Tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10). Next, I swapped the OEM 1TB HDD with a new Samsung SSD and installed a clean copy of Windows 10. Initially the touchpad was not listed in the Device Manager.

Following the same logic, I attemted to install the driver (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds103342) and received the same message: "No Appropriate Driver to be installed"

After a few boot cycles, the touchpad magically worked and was listed in the Device Manager https://goo.gl/photos/NAYiwBrKm6f1UwZ47

The following morning (today), I am back to square one https://goo.gl/photos/vtYh25EzFLxUYXhXA

Any ideas?

It could be the actual touchpad that is defective. Have you contacted Lenovo support yet?
