Y410 does not work on battery at all

2009-02-01, 1:13 AM

Hi

My laptop is  about 15 months old (Purchased Oct28, 07). It was functioning perfectly well till last night, since when the battery has stopped functioning completely. The symptoms are as described in MIGR-69671  but this is a different model. Basically the battery shows 100% charge, but when I remove the power supply (switch to the battery mode), the computer powers off. Also, the laptop cannot boot on battery.

It seems that this is again the battery issue that is widespread in the N3000 models, but how do I get this issue resolved ?

These are the numbers on the battery

Have you given some though that maybe after 15 months of usage,  the battery has reached it end of life?

Really 15 months ? Is that it takes a Lenovo Battery to die out ?

Also, the performance did not degrade slowly (as happens due to battery memory), but abruptly. From working for almost 3 hours on a single charge to totally not working.

Maybe battery controller was overheated or just broken.

Have you tried this battery on another Y410?

So far seems to be a replacement case...

Thanks,  skripatch

I think that is the case too, and will have to buy a new one (warranty just expired on December).

Anyways, it goes on to show the sketchy quality of the Y-series

I'm having a similar problem. My laptop is 2 years old now. When the A/C adapter is plugged in, the computer works, but it says the battery is 72% available but not charging. As soon as I unplug the adapter, the computer shuts down. I think it's ridiculous that we have to by a new battery in 2 years or less. Are we sure these batteries are not defective?

Even I have the same problem!!

when I checked the battery status it showed that it is fully charged.so I unplugged  it  with in 10mins it shuts off because of low battery.. and if I plug in again..it suddenly shuts  down by overheating:smileysad:

my laptop is 2years old.may be because of age it is happening .

can any one suggest me what to do??

The only thing you can do is buy a new battery and vow never to buy a lenovo computer again. I had a Thinkpad laptop at work and assumed that the legandary quality had transferred to Lenovo. How wrong I was.

There is nothing you can do when Lenovo wont even accept that there is a problem.
