well i ended up opening the  back...there is nothing in that slot whatsoever. I have a feeling this 1tb+8gb drive was a myth from the beginning...what an absolute joke.

Is there a slot there though?  I'm looking at the same model that you have and  I want to know if you can upgrade later with something like this.  I heard that the slot has been removed on some models.  Is it the case for the 59405095 model?

Some models have an M.2 connector, some has no connectors soldiers on.

If you do have a connector, you can add an M.2 drive there.  128GB can be a good upgrade!

You assume the sales team knows everything?  Tech support doesn't know anything.  But tech support's primary skill is being able to use Google and an internal database with a terrible search engine (hence Google sometimes).  Sales's primary skill is convincing you to buy stuff.  They don't know stuff because they aren't told stuff.

But let's just always assume everyone is an **bleep**.

So it wouldn't become obsolete the day 1800 Mb/s tech or whatever comes out? It's inconvenient, but it's just Lenovo trying to be foresightful/not trying to **bleep** you into buying a whole new machine next year.

mdf2t,

Go to the Lenovo Parts Lookup page at: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page

Enter your 'Serial Number' on that form (but just leave 'Machine Type' blank), click the [Submit] button, and copy-and-paste the entire table of  "Mfg P/N", "FRU P/N", and "Description" column listings that you see as a reply to this discussion, and I can explain what you have (or don't have) in your configuration.  Do NOT include your serial number in your reply... just the table listing of "P/N" and and descriptions.  I have a possible idea as to what is going on, and I can confirm this if you list out the parts in your configuration.

I've got a y410p and added a 128gb m2 card and would like to make this my OS drive.  Can anyone help me with reinstalling windows on this drive?  I cant seem to figure it out and am in way over my head at this point.  I thought it would be a simple reistall.

hi all!

I did it the same, I added a 128gb m2 card and would like to make this my OS drive.  Do you have o receive any idea how to do it? or a best question is... is it a good practice do the m2 card as a os drive, or use it as a cache of the system?

Thank you in advance!

Pablo.

But if one were to use a caddy in the ultrabay slot, one could use any standard SSD as long as it fits in the caddy, right?
