Y460 speakers "pop" noise

2010-12-07, 8:23 AM

My Y460a speakers produce a POP noise every time before the speakers sound.

Strange enough, it only happens on DC power. It won't happen when plugged in.

Is it a Realteck driver issue? Or hardware problem?

Thx!

Yigit,

Should I uninstall the current one before re-install?

Thanks!

My Brand new Y460 makes a popping noise from speakers

2011-01-09, 22:25 PM

Hello everyone.

I just got my brand new Y460 i5, 4g ram, 500 gb hdd, and ATI 5650 laptop. Everything is excellent, except the speakers will randomly make a popping noise. This happens when windows pops up a window, example like when you want to install a new program and the UAC pops up to ask if its ok to install. This doesn't happen all the time, and it has no pattern to it. Sometimes it does it too when i log in to windows. The best way i can describe the popping sound is when you have headphones plugged in and you yank it out, and you hear that popping noise from the speaker. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Try disabling all windows sounds to see whether the problem continues.

Go to

- Control Panel

- Sound (or Hardware and Sound, then Sound)

- Go to the Sounds tab

-Change sound theme to "No Sounds"

-Also uncheck the box for Windows Startup sound (this will improve boot time by about 0.5 secs anyway)

- Apply

- OK

Let us know if the problem continues after this :)

Leshcat was saying that the issue is the system beep sounds. http://leshcat.blogspot.com/2010/12/realtek-hd-audio-driver-static-noise.html

try them out and report. Newer version:http://leshcat.blogspot.com/2011/01/realtek-driver-r256-multi-installer-3.html Use option 2 when customizing. If the popping will still persist - it might be hardware problem.

or windows configuration itself. One-key recovery is unlikely to help you. I can recommend you to install Ubuntu on USB flash, boot from it and try to emulate this sound.
