same here, been experiencing this problem after I upgraded online to windows 8.

I cant adjust the fan control both on function key shortcut and energy management software. used the latest EM software for windows 8. Upgraded all the other software/driver available in the driver support site.

Hope to have a reply soon.

Hi ondax1,

Thanks for posting your concerns. I was just wondering if you have tried installing the Win7 Power management instead. Some of the models that have been upgraded to win8 did report some issues with the WIN8 powermanagement. So what they did was to install the Win7 Powermanagement instead.

The link to download the Powermanagement can be found below.

Please do give that a try and let me know of the results.

Regards

Hi Nine,

I'm currently owning a Y470 and i just updated to window 8.  The performance when i'm playing game in Window 8 is terrible and my guess is that it's using the intel HD graphic instead of using the Radeon HD 7670M whenever i'm playing game.  Is there anyway to fix this?  The catalysy center program show a log that tell me to updgrade my AMD driver as it's imcompattible.  Where can i download this driver ? Or is there anyway to fix the bad performces when i'm playing games.

Thank you

Yeah, I also have a problem with my Y470p only using the Intel 3000 chip, and not the 7690m. Also, WIndows is detecting my 7690m as a 7670. Any help?

Hi all,

After checking with the teams, you may want try uninstalling the Win9 Energy Management software and try running without the energy management and check for the changes. The machine is capable to run the without the energy managent as the Win8 is also optimzed to rin the Lenovo machine without the Energy management. Please do Give that a try and let me know of the changes.

Windows 8 nor 7 are not optimized to run the Lenovo Y470 without the energy management software. From my observation, it's easy to see that the thermal management controls the BIOS when dual booting Windows 7 and 8. When I select "super silent" in Windows 7 then boot to Windows 8, the fan control button still blinks in Windows 8 and the fan does not spin as fast unless I go back to Windows 7 and set the thermal management to "efficient dissipation mode" then boot again to Windows 8. (Note that I did not install the thermal management software in Windows 8 since it does not work). To resolve this issue, I just run Windows 8 in a virtual machine using VMware Player since I only use the Metro apps in Windows 8 and keep all my x86-64 programs in Windows 7.
