Y50-70 - Grand Theft Auto is LAGGING!!!

2015-09-29, 15:16 PM

Hello. there! I bought a brand new LENOVO IDEAPAD Y50-70AM 59442649 with CPU INTEL CORE i7-4720HQ 6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz, RAM 8 GB DDR3, HDD 1TB 5400RPM+8GB SSHD, VIDEO NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 960M, 4GB! There in the store they told me that i will play all new games with no a single problem, it's an awesome gaming laptop and bla bla bla... SO, I gave like 2500 bulgarian levs for it which is pretty big amount of cash. Yesterday i bought GTA V for like 60euros and i thought i would play the game on high settings with no problem with this CPU and Videocard and etc. But after half an hour the game starts to lag and stutter and i am literally angry about this... The temperature in game is like 70C which is OK i think. So please tell me how to fix that because i have seen videos in internet which shows pretty good FPS on this game on the same laptop. Please HELP!!

Hi trans1e, welcome to the forum. :smileyhappy:

First of all, I'm not really a "gamer", but I do know that to get the most performance out of the system for gaming, you should have it plugged in to your power adapter, and not only using your battery power. Also, if you are playing in a multi-user game, (on-line, and not single), your internet speed (download, and upload speed), has a lot to do with your ultimate gaming experience.

For other relevent settings, see this youtube video. He explains what his settings can do for your lagging.

We would need some statistics to figure out the problem.

You will need the following softwares -

1) CPU HWMonitor

2) FRAPS

3) GPU-z

- Run all 3 softwares.

- For GPU-z, click on Log to File and select a file to save the data to.

- Run the game.

- When the game starts lagging, quit and check the temperatures in CPU HWMonitor. Please check all CPU and GPU temps and post the min/max here

- Close GPU-z , go to the stored file and upload it here for review.

- Post your fps min/max and avg which is displayed on screen. (through FRAPS)

- Do let us know if you did anything or at what time the game started lagging.

- Post a picture/screenshot of your advanced graphics settings of GTA V

I will review the results.

I just sent a message to the Steam Support and as soon as they fix the problem I will do this.

Re: Y50-70 - Grand Theft Auto is LAGGING!!!

I have Lenovo Y50-70 for almost 2 years. Most of the games worked well. Now that I have started playing GTA V, the stuttering and fps drop totally kills the experience. A few months back, I even upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 16GB, but still, the stuttering never stops. It gets even worse when I drive the car in the game. No matter what setting I play I get this issue. Anybody over here as any solutions, please let me know.

Specs:

Processor: Intel Core i7 4710HQ @ 2.5  GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB

If anything else is needed please let me know.

And

Thank You for helping in advance.
