Do you have ADC? If you do then it should cover but if you have hte basic
warranty it might not be covered. Doesn't hurt to try.

I am a regular Y50-70 user, and I have a similar issue. The plastic cover of the hinges, are damaged. So far I haven't mis-used the laptop in anyway to warrant such damages.

I had the same issue.  This laptop would pop and snap every time i opened or closed it.  The plastic covering the hinges broke off one day.  I watched the hinges as i opened and closed it and noticed that the monitor housing on the left would actually bend before the hinge would move.  My solution was to take a 7mm socket and loosen the nut (shown by the red arrow) 1/4 turn.  This seems to have eliminated the problem, the laptop now opens and closes smoothly without the monitor housing bending.  I also trimmed the plastic cover on the left side so it wouldn't catch on the body of the laptop while opening.

Hope this helps.

I can see that losening the nut is definitely going to fix this, but how did you fit the socket in to get it on the nut?  Do you have a really tiny one?  I can't get mine to fit in the plastic there.

I pushed the plastic out of the way with the socket, bent it a little even (just dont smash the wires).  Then I used a long flat head screwdriver in place of a ratchet.

wow thx everyone! i couldnt give up my laptop for weeks right now. so its been sitting there open with the plastic cover removed as not to break it everytime i open the lid (really killed any portability of the laptop). with these instructions i was able to fix this in less than 15 min with no issues.

Lenovo for $1000 i expected a little more then a message on a support forum to contact your warranty dept. not come to my house to fix it. but how about an email stating there is a known issue and we want to address this now before it breaks? or even just a formal apologie with instructions to current registered owners of the product? seems like poor relations to your custromers. a proactive respone would have been more customer friendly as the number of posters here and in the web shows this is not a small problem unrelated problem.

Guys please I have question for owners Lenovo Y50-70/Y70-70.

I'm thinking about buying non touch Y50-70.

This problem with hinges (and fan) have only TOUCH versions or NON TOUCH versions too please?
