Y500 help!!

2013-11-04, 17:27 PM
I had this issue:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Help-Windows-8-not-booting-up/td-p/1294479

I tried repair and troubleshoot but it was of no use... Now my friend formatted every single drive in my Y500 and then installed an unofficial version of windows 8.1

Since I heard that the OEM key will be embedded in the BIOS I plan to install the OEM version of windows 8 again into the pc. Will it be activated automatically if I do that? With all the formatting done will it still be activated?

Also how do I set up the given SSD again into cache?
Also how do I get the one-key recovery button working again? What all files do I download and from where? Please help!!
Will there be any problem with the pc or reinstallation of OEM version of windows 8 as all the drives have been formatted!

Hi Vijay,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that there was no boot issue in your Y500 and hence you have deleted the partitions in the computer and installed Windows 8.1 Preview version in the computer, to restore to the pre-installed Windows 8. A recovery Drive should have been created please let me know if you have created the recovery drive after purchasing the computer.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hi Vijay,

I’m sorry to inform you that creating the recovery discs using the same model of Laptop might not work in your computer; however you can check creating the “Recovery Drive” from another laptop. But I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance to get the exact details of the nearest Authorized Service Center.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
