Re: Y510P-Lenovo Cheating Customers by Using a Cheaper CPU Than Advertised.

Ironically, from what I saw here http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/720343-ideapad-y510p-75.html#post9244627, Y510P sold from Lenovo.com uses DDR3 vs. DDR3L, a lower voltage RAM, in the models sold via Newegg. If the goal is to save power, then why pair a less power-consuming lower-performing CPU with higher power consumption RAM? This whole thing is very sneaky, Lenovo!!

On the good side, that i7-4702MQ is 37 watts instead of 47 watts from the 4700MQ. It would heat up much less than the 4700MQ while delivering excellent gaming performance. It's still a shame that Lenovo advertises their CPU as 4700MQ while 4702MQ is actually in place.

From the title, i7-4702MQ is the same price as i7-4700MQ so technically, Lenovo isn't using a cheaper CPU, but using a different CPU than the one they advertise

i'm from notebookreview.com. soon i will receive my laptop tomorrow. it appears that the first batch of laptops sold had 4700 cpu.

however the laptops that haven been recently shipped does come with 4702 and only ddr3 and not ddr3l.

while i'm not crazy about this, this is false advertisement. i wonder how lenovo plans to resolve this issue as many have already been complaining on notebookreviews.com

Lol. I think Lenovo just put whatever CPU and RAM that is available in their inventory, and then not update their website to the current inventory. This really shows bad business practices, and I hope Lenovo takes action ASAP or they might face class action lawsuits.

By first batch, do you mean the ones sold on Newegg.com? I ordered from Lenovo.com on the first day when Y510P becomes available. What about you?

gshock1,

Thanks for joining in here too!   -I've been reading through much of th e of the thread on NBR - certainly since page 60...

We are looking into the situation now...

Preliminarily, it looks like  the 59370006 model would come with the i7-4702MQ while the other 4 models currently on Lenovo.com come with the i7-4700MQ.   Our web team is updating the page to clarify this.

Which model of the Y510p did you order from Lenovo?  The 59369999 , 59370008, 59370005,  59370012, or the 59370006?  There are other sub models that are offered through newegg, etc as well...

In the discussion on NBR, I noted questions on the DDR3 vs DDR3L and whether the secondary video card in the optical bay would be the GT720M or a GT750M like the primary.   We are working to clarify these two points as well.

Best regards,

Mark

Hi, does anyone know what processor the 59370001 on the Canadian site comes with? I've recently ordered one and am hoping it comes with the right specs.

59370006 is the one I got, we all got 750m, there is not such thing as 720m sli. according to nvidia. Another wrong advertisement.
3 lines on the page stating wrong info. THREE, How is this acceptable.

Funny thing is, I typed with a sales rep this morning, they said, "

^Apeksha S: Hello
David: Hi, I am looking to buy a y510p laptop
^Apeksha S: Glad to know that
David: would like to ask, does the sli version comes with a 750 or a 720 graphics card?
^Apeksha S: It is 720m graphic card option
David: dual graphics card
^Apeksha S: Okay
David: is that a recent change? or has it always been 720 as dual
^Apeksha S: No, from the time model have been released it is 720m
David: will there be a future release on separate 750 buy?
^Apeksha S: I am sorry, currently we do not have any information regarding this.

HAHAHAHAHA, i have already got my hands on to mine, and everyone who got them from late, 15/16/17 June got the same, 750m. Sort your ppl out, and stop lying to customers AND stop doing false advertisement please, please, PLEASE.

Those sell reps, most of whom are in outsourced operating facilities outside United States, don't have too much technical knowledge. Way too aggressive, they just want to rush you to pay and get their commission.

David,

Thanks.  Our chat & sales agents are relying on the same information that you are, and unfortunately if there are mistakes in the content, those can carry over into the answers provided.

The web team has corrected the descriptions on the CPU and GPU overnight and they are showing correctly on the web now.  I would expect future interactions with sales via phone or chat to reflect the updated info.

Best regards,

Mark

Do we get a cashback then if we first saw the 4700 and expect the machine would have a 4700 but now it is a 4702?

If not, how can you repay the customers on this matter? 3d mark checked between the two, 3000 points lower, dats, loads.

Thanks.
