Y510P laptop boot problems

2015-03-25, 0:28 AM

On starting machine up the computer hangs at the LENOVO white text on black screen forever. The Computer will only start properly once the computer is reset from this stage and then started again from powered off. I have tried everything I can think of, I'v since reset bios to factory default and need more skilled help. This is how laptop was purchased and never worked properly. Please help! Lenovo Y510P laptop. 64bit windows 8 dual video card in extra slot. Factory installed software that it came with in store mostly.

I could not find a Lenovo support email adress if you know it please pass it on.

Thanks for any help

Hi Macido,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with laptop not booting in your Y510p laptop.

Please perform power drain by removing all the external devices and shutdown the system, now remove the battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and connect the battery and adapter and try to power on the system and try to boot the system.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

Best regards,

Ashwin. S

This might sound weird but are you sure you have everything disconnected from the laptop? If I keep any device at all (except a mouse) attached to my Y510P it won't boot past the Lenovo BIOS screen until I take it out. I think it's like stuck looking on those external devices for an OS or something, before booting the one on the HDD.

Make sure you don't have any other external drives or flash cards or anything plugged in. Also make sure that your Windows partition isn't borked up and that you don't have another parititon somewhere causing trouble.
