Re: Y510p freezes but I can still move the mouse

Mine is too! =] I left this setting on for my ssd and the game I am running off of it is the only thing with hick ups every once in a while. So this hopefully only further proves this to be the solution. Going to be disabling it for the ssd as well. Even my vmware player is running smoothly.

Hello,

I have the same problem, the laptop freezes at the startup.
I tried to disable the LPM from the IRST Interface. I believe that it's disabled but who can you disable it only for the HDD? Someone said that he successfully did it. How can I check if is it disabled?
Thanks for any help that anyone can give me.

If you have the model with the ssd, LPM can't be enabled on the ssd (to my knowledge) because the default set up is for the ssd to cache. Therefore the only thing to show up in the intel program should be you hdd. It should say on the LPM menu whether or not it's enabled or disabled. I'm not home now but I can check when I get back exactly.

It'll be under the performance tab on the Intel rapid storage program and I think it applies to all SATA devices

Still having the same issues, but with less frequency. This is a real problem. Can the RST be removed safely?

I couldn't tell you, the fix seemingly worked for most people, I don't know much about RST in general, I would recommend searching google for how to remove RST. That's a bummer it's still happening.

Thanks for the quick reply. The fix has worked well for about six weeks. After fighting it for a few days, I finally shut it down for a while and let it sit and it seems to be working fine again. Any other computer I would be looking at heat issues, but these problems are so specific in behavior that I know it has to do with the disk mangement. I am looking to add another SSD soon and I will cross that bridge when I come to it. When it works, it does an amazing job for me :).

That's good to hear. Good luck with your next ssd. I will say that the standard hdd in these laptops is 5400rpm and that's by no means fast, so I almost expect some slowing down every once in a while, however the current ssd in mine is caching and seems to help.

Turns out that it was a bad install of Shockwave. Been solid again for three days.

I bought Y410P in the summar and had been having the problem for a few months. Usually it freezes very often for the first one hour after booting up; and the later on becomes better. When it freezes, it can freeze for couple minutes or a few minutes. Finally below commands fixed the problem

open admin cmd shell
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow

I think it was caused by currupted files.
