So far so good.  Updated bios, reinstalled iTunes, and all seems well.  I left the usb power management options on default setting (allow to turn off external devices) without problem.  It was a bios issue after all - my guess related to Apple peculiarities (don't get me started).  Now that it seems iTunes is working, I can forget about it and use MediaMonkey, anyway.

Do you use that with an iPhone or iPod touch? If so, how does it work with apps?

I assume you are referring to MediaMonkey.  I use it with an ipod touch for music only.  For apps, calendar, contacts, etc., you are a slave to itunes, which is why I am glad we finally got the lenovo fix.  Mediamonkey is skinnable (itunes is not), takes extensions (itunes does not), monitors user-definable music folders (itunes does not).  Unfortunately, for installation of apps (Apple-approved only, of course) you have to use itunes.

I see. I don't use the app store all that much (generally I download cracked apps and install them via SSH). But I do like the app store for the few times when I get a quick free app. Also, I can deal with iTunes' flaws.

Hi All,

dezRy is right! I was told that this bios may fix the issue, and i wasn't aware that it is already uploaded to the web. My apologies to you all. Now, I'm so glad that it seems to have solved the issue as many positive feedbacks have been posted about this new bios version 33.:)

History of Fix:

1. When remaining battery capacity reach 10%, the beep alert will sound and it cannot be turned off except by muting the system sound.

2. Fix - Sony battery charge/discharge error

3. Fix - Synchronization issue between some USB devices and Y550p model

It should be something to do with the usb port as I notice HP bios release has mentioned about it as well.

Anyhow, i must say your comments are really valuable to the development team. Althought it's kind of late for the release, but i would like to thank them and you guys as well for making this far.

Thanks for your patience and we would like to hear more ideas from you. :)

Cheers,

Cleo

Now, if you can just get the engineers to push out a bios update that supports booting from the ExpressCard. That would be a huge selling point for Lenovo. Currently, Apple is te only manufacturer I know of that supports it.

Ooter37,

Thanks - that's good feedback.  Most of the BIOS updates are targeted to address issues in the field rather than to develop new capabilities that were not part of the original system specification, but it's really great to hear requests for features that customers want, and which could add value and differentiate the product further from other manufacturers.  We will ensure this is heard by development.  Kudos!

All,

It sounds like the new BIOS is helpful - we've marked it as the solution based on your feedback, but will continue to monitor this thread to see if there are further problems and can update the solution if needed.

If things are working, then let's leave them alone, but if there are other issues, I think Omega's findings based on our suggestion to validate and manually force the correct driver on this post are worth considering.   There was a request for us to share more detailed steps on this.  Our engineer shares the following:

1. From device manager, right-click on device
2. select properties
3. click on Driver tab
4. Select update driver
5. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
6. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
7. If the new driver is not in the location provided by Windows, click on "Have a disk".
8. Click browse to find the location for the correct driver.
9. Select the correct iphone driver and click OK.
10. Click next and follow any other onscreen instructions.
11. This should force the new device driver.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, information you found on other sites, and for your patience as we worked through this issue.

Best regards,

Mark

You should sticky this thread. I feel like, once the thread drops off the first page, people are going to ask about how to fix the issue a lot.
