Re: Y550P with PM55 Chipset and iTunes 9

twizid, I get about 2 - 2.5 hrs under power save mode under continous web surfing with Wi-Fi on and some program download/installs.  I did not stress test the battery by game playing or video play back.

When I'm using my laptop on and off (web surf for 20 minutes, go make a sandwich for 5 minutes, blank screen saver kicks in, the power meter icon indicated about 3 hours and 15 mins of usage.)

What kind of activity were you perfomring when you get the 1.5 hours?  Was it 1.5 Hours actual or as indicated by the power meter?  Did you install a lot of programs/background process?  Perhaps try updating all the autostart ITunes software processes from automatic to manual start (i.e.: like the DNSResponder process that constantly runs to listen for IPOD connection) and see if it makes any difference.

On a side note regarding battery life, another thing I noticed is that while ITune is trying sync unsuccessfully with the IPOD, the fan almost immediately kick in as the syncing process starts, and I can feel the temperature rising a few good degrees.  May be the IPOD touch syncing process is causing the i7 proc/PM55 chipset to continously try to overwork itself and drain more battery.  Even though the i7 processor has good power saving measure at idle, it draws 45W as compared to the 35W of the T series Core 2 Duo and 25W of the P series, so you'll likely see less battery life compared to a regular Core 2 Duo when the processor is under load.

Just jumping in here for a sec...

Anyone get a resolution for iTunes sync yet?

Also, the tochpad thing.... I'm assuming you've found the recent threads on here that address the issue.  In short, you can disable that behavior on the Synapsis touchpad settings or you can just uninstall the synapsis program.  Both work well.  I actually went throught customer support on the phone and the rep had me uninstall it.  That was before I knew you could disable the behavior.  Oh wellz.

Dear lord jesus please fix this. My life has become a battle of Lenovo versus iPhone. Everyday I fight a war to keep the thing synced and charged.

Ya it's like every day I have to unsync my entire iPhone and resync it. It takes HOURS to do so because I have a 32 GB iPhone and it's full of movies.

Clearly many people are having this issue and its affecting EVERYONE with this laptop....can we somehow get Lenovo's attention on this and get a BIOS update or what?
