Re: Y550P with PM55 Chipset and iTunes 9

To Lenovo, please fix it......

Don't betray your customer, I really need to sync my iPod touch with my Y550P. (My work require my iPod)

I bought this laptop since I believe Lenovo will give me good product including after sales service.

I beg you fix this problem ASAP.

Even my old crappy laptop can sync with my iPod, how can a laptop with higher perfomance cannot do that?

Wow. This topic is about three months old - still no word from Lenovo.

Great going guys! Great tech support! This is my first time buying a Lenovo (and a high end, expensive one at that) and this would definitely be the last.

I'll also tell my friends not to buy your products. Support sucks!

Hi All,

For your information, this issue does not happen to all machines which is the reason why the internal team has difficulty in reproducing the case. More info will be needed to find the variables. Therefore, a volunteer is very much appreciated.

I am provided with this link of iTunes version 9.0.3 for Windows 64bit

About iTunes 9.0.3 for Windows (64 bit)

iTunes 9.0.3 provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

  • iTunes no longer ignores your "Remember password for purchases" setting.
  • Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod.
  • Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected.
  • Addresses issues that affect stability and performance.

I"m not sure if it helps your issue but can try it out while looking for a volunteer as well as testing with different configuration.

Thanks folks.

Regards,

Cleo

I checked the net, itunes 9.0.3 doesn't fix this issue either. (but thx to try help us ^^)

But looking at Whirlpool forum (Australia), they said install and run iTunes on Vista (Sp2) compablity mode will fix this problem.

Does anyone tried this out?

I don't dare sync my iPod since I don't have my old laptop anymore.

urs is iPod or iPhone?

I read through the post here and it's a bit confusing.

Does it happen when restoring -> sync --> issue?

Or Sync --> issue?

Mine is iPod Touch.

The issues appear both when I restore and sync.

Re: Y550P with PM55 Chipset and iTunes 9

All,

We are taking this discussion seriously, and Cleo has relayed back some of the suggestions from the engineers looking into the situation.

Could someone provide a very clear explanation of what they do (with itunes), and where in the process of sync'ing they are getting the failure symptoms?

Also, I understand this discussion is 2 months old, and there are 3 principle customers who have been contributing information, and five or six more who have shared "me too"  comments but basically assume that everyone understands that me too means exactly same symptoms and point of failure.  While it may be a fair one, it is an assumption - for others that join, please explain a bit more about exactly what is occurring and when.

Another question - when you have your ipod connected, and if itunes is failing to sync, are you able to see the device as an HDD through Windows explorer?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Y550P with PM55 Chipset and iTunes 9

It is an intermittent problem. I regularly sync my iPhone. It often works fine. About once a week or so, I get the errors. Once you get the errors, you have to completely erase and restore the iPhone to sync it properly again. This issue has occurred for me probably 50 or so times. I have seen no pattern in the cause of the error. It is, seemingly, at random. Additionally, I have seen no pattern in the type of error that appears. It can be "missing file", or "unknown error", or anything else. Once the error occurs, I often have to unplug and plug the iPhone in several times to get it to properly restore my iPhone. Once I finally have everything restored (which takes hours because of the size of my iPhone's storage), it will work for about a week or two, and then fail again. The amount of time between instances where the errors appear and I have to restore the iPhone has been lengthening, though I am fairly certain this is because I sync my iPhone less often now, so as to avoid the errors. Obviously if it is being sync'd less often, there are less opportunities for the error to occur.
