Y560 Speaker screeching

2012-06-11, 22:58 PM

Hi guys,

Had the Y560 to no problems for about 2 years except lately when it dropped to the floor from about 3 feet.

Now, when I turn the volume pass a certain point (four or more bars on the GUI), there is a high frequency screech that makes the JBL speakers unbearable to listen to. It occurs when there is nothing playing and the screech also softens the sounds that are playing. To give you a better idea of the sound, the best analogy I could attribute it to would be a constant dog whistle-- for humans of course.

The problem occurred on both sides when I balance to LEFT or RIGHT.

Do you think it's a hardware issue? Would switching out the JBL speakers solve the problem? Anyone have this happen to them or have a parts/tutorial on switching out the speakers?

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
