Re: Y570 - Why do games run better off my battery and choppy when its plugged in?

I'll post my settings in Nvidia control panel for skyrim later in this post.

Edit:

So you gotta get to nvidia control panel which should like like this(in advanced mode) click here

Then make the settings as these:

Select a program to customize: Elder scrolls 5: Skyrim

Select the prefferred graphic processor for this program: High performance NVIDIA processor

Ambient occlusion: If possible, turn it OFF

Anisotropic filtering: OFF

Antialiasing gamma correction: OFF

Antialiasing mode: Application-controlled

Antialiasing - Transparency: OFF

Cuda GPUs: Use global settings

Maximum pre-rendered frames: 3

Multi display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Single display performance mode

Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance

Texture filtering-Anisotropic sample optimization: OFF

Texture filtering-Negative LOD Bias: Allow

Texture filtering quality: Quality

Texture filtering-trilinear optimization: ON

Threaded optimization: ON

Triple buffering: ON

Texture filtering-anisotropic filter optimization: off

Vertical sync: Force ON

Oh and I started using the energy star power plan as it is working like a charm for me plus I still have the smart power saving turned ON for both CPU and hard disk(this is an option of lenovo power management.)

I didn't tweak any power settings at all..

@ Zehn,

My bad, didn't even post the proper link..I'll do it again in few hours when I get back to my laptop at home. Just at work right now. Anyways it's just a pic showing the nvidia control panel if someone perhaps doesn't know what it is and how it looks like on advanced view. Just to show the settings written in my oast post above.

I made a video of me attemting to play bf3 on my y570. As you can see the lag spikes are terrible. I hope Lenovo actually helps for once.

Did you make the numerous tweaks to your laptop that we suggested?
And what's your processor?

Try to change some settings in the power plan setting and the lenovo power management setting, this issue can be solved, I never have lag spikes/stuttering but I can't remember what I did because I changed a lot of settings. I wish I could remember to help you guys out.

Edit: Have you tried updating your graphics card? Someone pointed out a few posts ago that the stuttering had stopped after they updated to a specific version and they recorded gameplay of Skyrim, check the previous posts and update to the version that he/she updated to.

Bleh.
Although the changes to my y570 (2630QM) were noticeably better, compared to the miraculous videos on youtube, the gameplay has been not choppy like the problems M47R1X described in the beginning of this thread, but not smooth as when I still remove my battery plug.
- I updated my graphics driver officially through Nvidia website to 285.79

- I set lenovo graphics ticked both Smart power-saving disk and Smart power-saving CPU in the energy management section

- Power options are set on energy star, default settings.

- Uninstalled or turned off 90% of my bloatware.
Compared to nitnikp's video ( who has a slightly faster processor) my computer seems nowhere as fast.
Although the first five minutes of gameplay is pretty good, eventually the lag starts to settle and I'm left with a laggy gameplay.
