Re: Y580 Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7

Anyone know which driver is correct for the camera, or how to even activate it? This seemed to be the one casualty for me, along with apparently the left speaker channel. :(

Re: Y580 Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7

I just downloaded all my drivers from Lenovo on the Z580 page for mine. I did not install the camera bloatware with all the frills, just the camera drivers, so I don't just access the camera alone, but it loads right up in Skype and Google talk (which I also uninstalled). Speakers left and right/surround are controlled through the Dolby  software, but they should be even to start with I would assume.

Re: Y580 Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7

I used all the Z580 drivers for Win7, 64 bit where there was a choice. I did end up with a different driver for the touchpad (because the on-off hot keys for the pad didn't work) and the energy management (there was a newer release on a different page). I will have to find which ones I used and post them. The last EM driver I installed gave back functionality of the capacitive touch buttons with on screen notification of things like caps lock going on or off, cooling fan changes and theatre mode changes.

Because I just pulled the drive out with win8 on it and replaced it with an SSD I could also get to the drivers that were still on it, but most were win8 specific. It is nice that they were all in a single easy to find folder, compared to previous versions of windows that scatter them everywhere. The original camera drivers are also in this folder, but it offers drivers for 3 cameras and I don't know which I have (Buffalo, Chicony, etc) so I used the one from the Lenovo site.

Re: downgrade lenovo ideapad z580

2013-01-24, 2:35 AM

Hello ishaan

Is it possible to downgrade a new Ideapad Y500 (1Tb HDD + 16Gb SSD Cache)  from win8 pro x64 to win7 x64? I plan to follow the solution on the 9th post of this thread. However I can't seem to find the drivers for the Y500 running win7 x64. I also plan to swap the HDD with a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and would like your opinion on the swapping strategy. Would it be easier to downgrade to win7 on the HDD and then clone to the SSD or downgrade to win7 on the HDD and then swap the drives and do a clean install on the SSD? I would like to have the HDD as a backup in case my SSD crashes. I know this thread is related to the Y580 but I've heard that they are somewhat similar.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: downgrade lenovo ideapad z580

I've succesfully downgraded my Y850 to Win7 - the only outstanding issue I have is that the Fn+F5 key won't turn on/pff the WiFi/Bluetooth radios - any thoughts on how to get this working?

Cheers,

Fin.
