I was able to solve this problem!!!!! It was very simple actually! you just need to install the version for win 8.1! and it works pretty fine!

I also installed the win 8.1 version of Energy Management and it worked. But I have the same questions here.. the Windows 10 Energy Manager Flight mode driver and Lenovo utility don't work for me. What is it supposed to do? because I can see the Lenovo utility installed in my programs list but can't find it to run it?

Ok, I just finished doing the clean install and everything works smoothly. I had an issue with the drivers though (the Intel HD control panel didn't work, but I downloaded the most recent version from their website and now it works fine).

@I didn't have any problems with the Energy Manager with the upgrage nor with the clean installation though.  However, what  says is true, until you reinstall the Energy Manager your battery will be stuck in the mode that it was before the update, so I would recommend to install W10 with the conservation mode disabled.

Thank you for the information about Energy Manager as that would suck being stuck at 60%.

Is there a thread for Y50-70 Windows 10 Upgrades? I keep seeing various posts about issues with drivers on the Y50-70 and I would like to know if any issues like a concise list. The Y50-70 is listed on the compatibility list but always nice to know what drivers will need to be manually installed. I know there was an issue with nVidia drivers has that been fixed?

Anyways, thanks for the heads up! :smileyhappy:

I also have a Z50-70 and currently going through all the discussions & issues on forums, before doing upgrade to Windows 10.

Would you please clarify what you did regards Energy Manager....ie did you uninstall it as per Lenovo recommendation before the upgrade to Windows 10, and then re-install the Windows 8.1 Energy Manager.  I assume this is available on Lenovo site somewhere?

If I remember correctly, I just upgraded to Windows 10 without uninstalling it and it seemed to be working well. However, I performed a clean installation right away so I'm not 100% sure.

Also, I believe that there was a memory issue with that driver (here) that was fixed after a Gauge Reset. This is just a assumption, but if you encounter the same problem maybe it can help you.

You can find the drivers here: http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-70

Thanks eclank.  I think I will still wait a while before attempting upgrade.  My one & only laptop is critical to me, and I'm not yet convinced that Windows 10 features outweigh the pain of time and potential problems of the upgrade, given my current satisfactory usage of my laptop, and Windows 8.1 support till 2023.

Re: Lenovo Energy Management and Windows 10

As per my sig. I have a Z70-80 and its a factory turnkey Win8.1 build. Of course everything works and what newer driver have been updated along with Windows updates.

For me to move forward to MS regular prompting to Windows 10 it would have to be a seemless upgrade!! With MS upgrade install and the Lenovo driver updating to support all the specifics of the hardware.

I am not seeing that and I see the MS drivers are over riding OEM installed drivers reverting to non hardware specific drivers etc. This is bad and could be a nightmare. I am interested in upgrading but will have to have a image fallback and much better support for having everything working as if it was a OEM Lenovo image.

I did not buy an new notebook to stress about its OS. So far I don't see Lenovo provide a package for this situation and everyone is on their own trying to get things running again. This is pretty bad in my opinion and much is due to less than optimal MS testing of the real world.

It appears that the functionality of the Power Management application has been moved to the Lenovo Settings app in the Windows Store.  Load that one and it works.
