Z50-70 WIFI issue

2015-01-04, 22:46 PM

I have installed Windows 8.1 and I have installed the LAN and WLAN from your website for this laptop.

The search for networks does not find anything, even when the laptop is right next to a working router. I have tried the laptop in different areas where there are other networks and the outcome is the same.

To reiterate, no networks are found, so the only way I can connect to the internet is via Ethernet or via wireless dongle.

I actually bought a dongle, but managed to snap it in half! So that was £25 wasted!

No error msgs are given. WLAN is turned on in BIOS.

This is the info from the windows connection page..

Manufacturer: Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.
Description: Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter
Driver version: 10.0.0.274
Physical address: ‎B8-EE-65-AC-10-8D

Thank you

Assuming that airplane mode is off check in pc settings/networks/airplane mode if the wifi is on or off.

Could you try to manually add a network profile and force windows to connect even if the SSID is not broadcasting?

Try updating the network adapter , or may be using Braodcom driver may help your problem.

Sorry I've been quite busy and I've not had time to try and fix this issue. I've tried the above and they do not work but thanks for your recommendations.

Since windows does detect there is a wifi device and correct driver then it would suggest the driver is correct. As I've said windows does not back up any networks but the important thing is windows shows I have a wifi device installed and ready to work.

Any other suggestions?
