Re: Gradient issue: Z50-75 (Faulty display?)

Same gradient problem with my z50-75 display - while I  am watching YouTube videos, movies; playing League of legends. When I connect it via VGA or HDMI  there are not such problems as I recall. What really bothers me is this and this. It has happened 2 or 3 time for the almost 1 month time I own this laptop.

I think this is the solution for the brightness level issue: enable advanced view in Catalyst Control Center (preferences -> advanced view) then go to power -> powerplay(TM) -> uncheck "enable VaryBright(TM).

Z50-75 FAULTY SCREEN

2015-03-16, 23:16 PM

Hello,i would like to describe a problem that i have with the screen of this laptop. I don't know how to exactly describe it but the black and grey looks very disoriented, as very low resolution or low color depth. Please tell me that this can be fixed cause I've spented hours of searching to fix that with no results at all and is very annoying to have such a problem when that laptop screen is FHD. Thank you.

Hi Geokio,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing a gradient issue on your Lenovo Z50-75 laptop.

Try to connect the external monitor and check for the issue, also try to set the resolution to the recommended option under control panel->display ->adjust resolution option and check for the issue.

Also try to uninstall the display driver and restart the system and reinstall the driver and check for the issue.

Click here for the driver for windows 7.

Click here for the driver for windows 8.1.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

Best regards,

Thank you for your advise about this problem, but i have already done this procedure (Correct drivers from site plus i connected an external monitor with an hdmi cable and after that with a usual monitor cable and the result was excelent versus laptop screen. Propably has something to do with calibration in laptop screen. My settings in amd catalyst control center is all by default and my resolution is set in 1920 x 1080 with 60hz refresh rate. I don't know if this is something but my laptop screen recognized as generic pnp monitor and cant change refresh rate or color depth but propably this is nothing to do with the problem. Thank you.

I might have found the solution for the problem! I just need the laptop screen driver (z50-75) to recognize the system and amd as fhd screen and not generic pnp! Maybe there is the problem cause in other screen monitor fhd connected with laptop the colours and contrast is perfect. If anyone knows how to do this or something else that i can do reply to that message please.

Hi Geokio,

Thanks for the reply.

As you have mentioned that the display on the monitor is fine, it might be an issue with the LCD, please check if you move the laptop lid will the color display appears or still there is a gray display.

If the display changes to color than it is issued with the LCD cable, if the display still remains gray, then it might be issue with LCD, please visit the nearest service center for further details.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

It's not about the screen quality. With R7 integrated card, this problem does not appear. Only with discrete one!
I'm using this laptop for graphical purposes... but its impossible to work with...

Re: Gradient issue: Z50-75 (Faulty display?)

I am investigating customer reports of the gradient color scheme on LCD not matching output and also color banding on Z50-75 laptops.

If you have not already, please post pictures (after they have been resized). I will include them in my investigation.

If you have a Z40 or Z50 model of a different type experiencing either of these issues, please post the model type and a pic so I can expand my investigation.

Also, if you are willing to assist and are located in North America, please message me.

Thank you,
