Re: (Z570) Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 8

Hello Lenovo community!

I'm having an issue on my laptop that arose when I installed Windows 8 alongside Windows 7 on a separate partition, and then installed Lenovo's Energy Management software from my windows 7 installation on to that windows 8 install, thinking it would work. I realized later there are compatibility issues with it.

As soon as I did this, I am noticing a significant FPS/frame rate reduction in games and other GPU-intensive apps (around 19-20 fps) while the laptop is plugged IN on AC power but surprisingly things run buttery smooth when I don't have the charger plugged in (70+ fps). Uninstalling the software did not fix it. And the weirdest thing is that when I booted back into my Windows 7 install, the problem persisted there too! It's as if this somehow affected the hardware of my laptop.

I reformatted my hard drive and installed Winows 8 alone, and installed a newer, updated version of Lenovo's Energy Management software which was designed for Windows 8. It has some weird bugs still which they need to fix such as not being able to optimize the settings for best battery health, which holds the laptop's charge at 50%. I really like this feature and hope it's fixed. Still, my FPS problem persists.

I'm pretty convinced my problem has to do with the power management features of this laptop which allow it to stop charging at 50% in order to preserve battery health if you set it to do so. I know there must be some hardware component involved in that, because back when this software worked, it worked even while the laptop was off or sleeping. It wouldn't charge past 50% unless I allowed it to under any circumstance.

Any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it? Reformatting hasn't seemed to do the trick.
